Big Thanks to our very own Maintenance Team!

During the time the Duke of Wellington has been a community-owned pub there has always been a need to stay on top of maintenance.  In some cases, this will mean bringing in teams of professionals, especially where gas and electricity are involved.  In all other cases we call in our very own Maintenance Team.
The Duke of Wellington Maintenance Team volunteer their services for free and for the benefit of the pub.  These services can consist of both skilled and unskilled labour but are vital to the safe working of the pub.  Below are a few examples:

1. Putting up the Christmas garden display in time for the Duke Jingle and then taking it all down and storing for next year
2. Decorating the main entrance.  Has anyone noticed the new noticeboard?
3. New locks fitted to the main entrance - enhanced security and ease of entry for staff
4. Removal of the old bar in the Boot Bar - big hammers and not a lot of finesse were required
5. Replacement gates fitted to pub back garden
6. Removal of all the ancient plaster in the upstairs flat in preparation for the professionals starting work.  Saved huge amounts of money and time.
7. Mowing the pub garden lawn every few weeks.  You try mowing a large garden on a slight hill with heavy garden furniture dotted around
8. Maintaining and cleaning the garden furniture and children's play equipment
9. Emptying outside bins and cleaning the pub car park
10. Monitoring the flood preventative measures that are in place - yes, flooding has been a thing of the past
11. Installation of new sheds as and when required - there is never enough storage

All this work and more is undertaken voluntarily by the Maintenance Team.

On behalf of the LCBS Committee I would like to give our personal thanks to the Maintenance Team who contribute their own time and labour and tools to all the unseen tasks that are needed on a daily / weekly / monthly basis.

There is absolutely no truth in the rumour that your first name needs to be Dave to be a member of the Maintenance Team, you can ask Dave W or Dave G or Dave T or Dave E or Brian H or Bob P...
